Question and Answer Session
What drew you to aesthetics and why is it your passion?
I started my medical career 15 years ago in plastic surgery. Over the years, I ventured into other avenues of medicine and during that time I realized how much I missed making a difference in someone’s life and getting instant results. Very few avenues of medicine gives you the satisfaction of instant results like you see in aesthetics. In addition, and not many people know this about me – but as a hobby I like to build furniture. I have found I have an eye for symmetry and a visual mind and while this helps me in my woodworking, it is a great asset to have in the field of aesthetics.
What is your favorite thing about instructing?
My favorite thing about being an instructor is getting to share my skills, tricks and pearls of advice with other future injectors. I also love giving confidence to new injectors.
What is your favorite injectable product?
By far my favorite product is Voluma. It allows you to contour, it acts like a thin product but holds like a strong product. At MedAesthetics Training we used Voluma in both the basic and advanced course, so this shows the popularity and ease of use of this product.
Is there a supply item that you HAVE to have?
A must have supply for me is my Kebby Decapper. I hate wasting or loosing product, and the decapper saves me at least 4 units of Botox per vial. After using it continously for the past two years, my only regret is not getting it earlier.
What are your top 3 methods to minimize risk and optimize your patient results?
- Always aspirate to ensure I’m not in a vessel
- Always be conservative when injecting – you can always add more product if needed.
- It is OK to say no to potential clients – whether it be because they aren’t proper candidates, or they won’t get a good result. Don’t feel like you HAVE to treat everyone you see but come up with a backup plan of how to decline to those who aren’t a good fit for you.
- Understand your anatomy! I can’t stress that enough, it is so important. We send out facial anatomy review materials prior to the course. This ensures attendees are more prepared to learn and discuss anatomy in more detail during the course.
OK, that was 4 (not 3), but I love to share this information!
If you could give one piece of advise to someone just starting in aesthetics, what would it be?
Be confident. Remember, you know more than the patient so don’t let them dictate there care – just like any avenue of medicine. Your clients are coming to you for your knowledge and expertise, so make sure you share that knowledge with your client.
What attendees have to say about Waseem
Nikki Domas, RN:
Waseem Garbia did my training and I could not have been more pleased with the experience! The didactic portion was very clear and informative. Waseem took the time to clearly demonstrate and explain injection techniques. The hands on was far more than I expected. I was able to practice botox on the key areas of the upper face and practice dermal filler on the lower face (cheeks and lips). Waseem’s skill level and knowledge base is AMAZING and I learned A TON from him!
Andrew Newman, DO:
Really great. Answers ANY questions even if unrelated to course techniques
Ireneo Albano, MD:
Excellent instructor!!!
