Tweakments: Minimally Invasive Procedures for Maximum Client Satisfaction.
February 03, 2025TikTok, FaceTune, and Instagram are changing the aesthetic medicine industry.
The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) regularly surveys aesthetic medicine providers. In a recent survey, 75% of facial plastic surgeons reported an increase in clients under 30. In other words, Gen Z (people born between 1996 and 2012) has entered the market. And at a younger age.
The same survey mentions that 79% of facial plastic surgeons believe that a desire to look better in selfies is pushing this younger demographic. We’ve all felt insecure after seeing all the beautiful faces on our for you page. But social media is not the only contributing factor. For example, aesthetic medicine has become much more affordable and accessible in the past few decades. Aesthetic medicine is also more socially acceptable than it was for previous generations.
Minimally Invasive Procedures are in High Demand.
Gen Z does not want rhytidectomies (facelifts) or rhinoplasties (nose reshaping). They want minimally invasive procedures that offer subtle results but significant impacts. They want Tweakments, fine-tuned adjustments of specific features.
Lip adjustments (check out our article on our Lip Masterclass for more information) and chemical peels are very popular among the Gen Z demographic. Generally speaking, they don’t want to look overdone, nor do they want long recovery times. They want subtle changes that add up for a big difference!
So, how do you fine-tune a patient’s face so they feel incredible?
Well, Tweakments require a unique application of skills. You often have to perform minimally invasive procedures in conjunction with each other.
For example, a patient inspired by TikTok’s beauty trends might want fuller lips, smoother, healthier skin, and to get rid of the wrinkles under her eyes.
Depending on the patient’s facial anatomy, you might opt for lip body volumization and a cupid’s bow lift. A chemical peel can help achieve better-looking skin. And dermal fillers can clear away under-eye wrinkles.
Another patient may want a rounder, softer face, better-defined lips, and to rid themselves of their crow’s feet. This situation is very similar to the first example but may require different procedures. Sculptra can rejuvenate their face with natural collagen production. A vermillion border definition and keyhole pout procedure can give them their ideal lips. Lastly, botulinum toxin can clear away those dynamic wrinkles.
The point is, if you want to provide maximum client satisfaction, you’ll need to combine various skills.
You’ll need to learn how to analyze facial anatomy to provide personalized treatment plans. You’ll need to give personalized consultations to directly address your client’s concerns. And you’ll need a robust, holistic understanding of aesthetic procedures to find those subtle changes that will provide maximum impact.
Those principles are hardwired into all our training courses. Yes, learning specific techniques for specific procedures is vital. However, at the heart of every procedure are our patients. Understanding them and how to help them transcends any aesthetic procedure.
