This self-paced educational activity is designed to strengthen anatomical understanding, refine marking and injection technique, and reinforce complication-avoidance principles.  This activity provides 2.0 AAFP Prescribed CME credits upon successful completion.

This self-instruction course includes:

  • 45-Minute Instructional Video (must be completed in its entirety before the post-test)

    • Covers assessment, marking, and injection techniques

    • Step-by-step demonstration with safety emphasis

    • Botulinum toxin procedures: glabella, forehead, crow’s feet, bunny lines, lip flip

    • Dermal filler procedures: cheeks, nasolabial folds, lips

  • Facial Manikin – realistic practice model for marking and technique practice

  • Supply Kit for practice on facial manikin:

    • 4 insulin syringes with saline (for botulinum toxin procedures)

    • 2 pre-filled syringes with gel (to simulate dermal filler consistency)

    • Manikin facial marking pen

    • Alcohol wipes for manikin cleaning

  • Printed Workbook – Step-by-step training workbook

  • Post-Test & Evaluation – 80% required for credit

  • Certificate of completion – Emailed with 48 hours

How It Works

  1. Order: Your manikin, supply kit, and printed workbook are shipped directly to you.

  2. Learn & Practice: Watch the instructional video and complete exercises in the workbook as you practice on the manikin.

  3. Assess: Scan the included QR code to access the online post-test and evaluation.

  4. Earn CME: Achieve a passing score of 80% or higher on the quiz. Certificates of completion for 2.0 AAFP Prescribed CME credits will be emailed within 48 hours. 


Learning Objectives

After completing the activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify key facial anatomy relevant to botulinum toxin and dermal filler safety.

  2. Demonstrate safe marking and injection techniques on a facial manikin.

  3. Apply correct injection patterns for common treatment areas shown in the video.

  4. Recognize and prevent common complications associated with injectable procedures.

  5. Integrate patient safety considerations into simulated practice.


Educational Purpose

This activity is designed to reinforce foundational anatomical knowledge and safe injection technique using a simulated environment. It does not replace live, supervised clinical training and does not certify participants to independently perform injections.


Scope of Practice Disclaimer

Dentists:
Regulations vary by state regarding where dentists may legally administer botulinum toxin and dermal fillers (cosmetic vs. therapeutic indications).
Before enrolling, dentists must verify the scope permitted by their state dental board.

Medical professionals:
RNs, NPs, PAs, MDs, and DOs must also follow their state laws and board regulations governing injectable procedures.

Participation in this training does not override state scope-of-practice rules or guarantee eligibility to perform injectable procedures.


Requirements for CE Credit

To receive CE credit, participants must:

  1. View the full instructional video without skipping.

  2. Complete all workbook exercises.

  3. Pass the post-test with a score of 80% or higher.

  4. Complete the course evaluation.

A certificate of completion will be emailed within 48 hours of successful submission.

Important Notes

  • This is a self-instruction CE activity with no live instruction component.

  • The manikin and workbook support simulation practice only; no live injections are performed.

  • CE credit hours must reflect full completion of all components.

Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)TM toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1.
