Botox, Botulinum Toxin & Dermal Filler Training | Level I is a one-day course for licensed healthcare professionals who are beginning or expanding their training in aesthetic injectables.
The course combines foundational didactic education with hands-on training focused on facial anatomy, patient assessment, treatment planning, injection technique, and safety considerations for botulinum toxin and dermal filler procedures.
Attendees receive a Certificate of Training upon successful completion. Approved for up to 9.75 AAFP Prescribed credits. Continuing dental education is offered by MedAesthetics Training, LLC as a PACE-recognized provider.
Foundational, Small-Group Injectable Training
This foundational course is limited to a maximum of 8 participants to allow for personalized instruction, supervised practice, and direct instructor feedback throughout the day.
Participants will:
- Build foundational knowledge in botulinum toxin and dermal filler treatments
- Practice patient assessment, treatment planning, and consultation skills
- Develop safe injection technique through didactic and hands-on training
- Gain confidence in applying aesthetic injectable concepts in a clinical setting
Products and Techniques Covered
This course introduces current botulinum toxin products, including Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, Jeuveau®, Daxxify®, and Letybo®.
Participants will also review dermal filler injection techniques using FDA-approved products such as Juvederm®, Restylane®, RHA®, Versa®, Belotero®, and Evolysse® products.
Foundational Didactic Education
The didactic portion provides an evidence-based introduction to key clinical concepts, including:
- Aesthetic medicine goals and the physiological process of aging
- Botulinum toxin history, pharmacology, product selection, and clinical applications
- Reconstitution techniques, including common dilution ratios
- Dermal filler product characteristics and appropriate treatment considerations
- Facial anatomy, including muscles, vessels, skin layers, and safety considerations
- Indications, contraindications, risk management, and complication protocols
- Client consultation, facial assessment, and treatment planning
Instruction is presented in an educational format and is independent of commercial influence.
Injection Techniques Covered
Participants will review foundational injection techniques for common botulinum toxin and dermal filler treatment areas.
Botulinum toxin treatment areas include:
- Glabellar region and frown lines
- Frontalis and horizontal forehead lines
- Bunny lines
- Crow’s feet
- Brow lift procedures
Dermal filler treatment areas include:
- Lip enhancement and augmentation
- Marionette lines
- Midface volumization and cheek enhancement
Hands-On Clinical Training
Following the didactic session, participants engage in a supervised hands-on educational workshop designed to reinforce clinical application of foundational techniques.
Participants will:
- Practice aesthetic consultation and treatment planning in a learning environment
- Review model case information, medical history, and consent documentation
- Analyze facial features and skin characteristics before treatment
- Refine injection technique through guided practice
- Receive instructor feedback throughout the hands-on training session

Pre-Course Preparation
12 days prior to the course date, participants will receive access to online preparatory materials, including:

Botulinum Toxin and Botox Training
Botox® is one specific brand of botulinum toxin type A. This course includes Botox training as part of a broader review of botulinum toxin products currently used in aesthetic medicine, including Dysport®, Xeomin®, Jeuveau®, Daxxify®, and Letybo®.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe the core goals of aesthetic medicine and how intrinsic and extrinsic aging impact facial structure and skin quality.
- Explain the mechanism of action, history, and clinical indications of botulinum toxin A, including Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, Jeuveau®, Daxxify®, and Letybo®.
- Demonstrate appropriate dilution and reconstitution techniques for neurotoxins using both 2.5:1 and 1:1 ratios.
- Identify safe dosing strategies and anatomical injection techniques for common treatment areas, including the glabella, frontalis, crow’s feet, bunny lines, and brow lift.
- Recognize potential complications and apply appropriate safety protocols to manage adverse outcomes.
- Analyze treatment outcomes through photographic comparisons and evaluate aesthetic effectiveness.
- Review safety considerations related to neurotoxin treatments, including patient selection, contraindications, and injection depth awareness.
- Perform facial markings and practice injection angles and depth for neurotoxins on facial manikins prior to live model training.
- Discuss the clinical purpose and role of dermal fillers in facial rejuvenation and volume restoration.
- Differentiate between HA filler classifications and identify product characteristics for Restylane®, Juvederm®, RHA®, Versa®, Belotero®, and Evolysse®.
- Identify facial arteries, veins, and tissue layers relevant to filler safety and proper injection placement.
- Describe common anesthesia techniques used to enhance patient comfort during dermal filler procedures.
- Demonstrate filler techniques and injection methods for treatment areas such as lips, marionette lines, nasolabial folds, and midface.
- Identify appropriate candidates for dermal fillers and describe how to manage complications, including vascular occlusion.
- Evaluate treatment efficacy and aesthetic improvement through clinical photography.
- Conduct a comprehensive aesthetic consultation, including medical history review, treatment planning, and communication of risks, benefits, and aftercare.
- Apply facial markings and practice filler injection angles and depths on facial manikins to reinforce anatomical accuracy.
- Safely perform neurotoxin and dermal filler injections under instructor supervision.
- Demonstrate anatomical knowledge, injection technique, and patient communication during hands-on procedures.
- Reflect on knowledge and skills gained, clarify remaining questions, and complete CE evaluation forms.

Eligibility & Scope of Practice
Eligibility: This course is open to licensed healthcare professionals, including MD, DO, PA, NP, RN, DDS, and DMD.
Scope of Practice: This program provides foundational education and training in aesthetic injectable procedures. Each participant is responsible for verifying with their respective state licensing board that these procedures fall within their scope of practice and for complying with all applicable laws and regulations.
Credit Information
This Live activity, Basic Botulinum Toxin-A and Dermal Filler Training, from 04/01/2026 – 03/31/2027, has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 9.75 Prescribed credit(s) by the American Academy of Family Physicians. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed credit, not as Category 1.
